Kerala Boat Race Festival – A Unique Celebration of Tradition

The Kerala Boat Race Festival is one of the most unique and thrilling events in India, celebrated annually between August and September during the Onam festival, which is also known as the harvest festival of Kerala. Onam marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali and is a time of joy, feasting, and cultural events, with the boat races being one of its highlights.

The boat races, particularly the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, are famous for their traditional snake-shaped boats known as "Chundan Vallams".
